Community of Kamenka
|
In Kamenka, the group was met with open arms
and warm hearts. The community members welcomed the team into their
homes and treated the participants with the highest respect. Student
participants were paired up and matched with local community families.
After eating dinner at the respective families' homes, students were
invited to a discotheque at the school. Other events in Kamenka
included a end of project banquet at the local school and a soccer match
between the Americans and a group of kids from Kamenka. The community
worked side-by-side with the team to restore the desecrated cemetery.
Without their help, the team would not have accomplished all that it was
able to complete in Kamenka. Despite language barriers, people
from each culture were able to learn so much from each other. |
