I am writing to let you know that Michelle Meyers, Director of Equal
Opportunity and Affirmative Action in the Office of Institutional Diversity
& Equity at Dartmouth College, has let me know of her plans to resign from
her current position to pursue other opportunities effective June 30th,
2007.
Michelle is a 1983 graduate of Dartmouth. She returned to the College as an
Adjunct Instructor in Women's and Gender Studies in 1995 and served as the
Acting Director of the Center for Women and Gender in the fall of 1997. In 1998
she joined the staff of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action
and subsequently became the Associate Director and then Director of the Office.
As Director, she worked closely with senior administrators, faculty, and staff
across the institution to implement Dartmouth's equal opportunity and
affirmative action policies and programs, and its strategic diversity goals.
From March through December of 2006, she served as the interim head of the
Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity.
I am very grateful to Michelle for the work she has done over the past
several years to increase the representation of women and minorities on campus
and to support an equitable and inclusive environment here. She has contributed
significantly to our success with these important initiatives.
I hope that you will join me in thanking Michelle for the good work she has
done and in wishing her continued success. Michelle will remain in the area, so
we will continue to enjoy her presence in our community.
In the meantime I have asked Mary Liscinsky to fill in as Interim Director
of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action. Mary first worked at Dartmouth
between 1989 until 1992 and then returned again in 1996. She has served in the
Office of Residential Life, the Upperclass Deans Office, and the Dean of the
College Office. She has taken a leadership role on a number of key projects,
including the recent NCAA recertification process. She chairs the Committee on
Standards and has a demonstrated ability to deal with complex and sensitive
situations. I look forward to working with Mary as she transitions into this
role. As you know, we are currently in the midst of a search for a new Vice
President for Institutional Diversity and Equity and will also begin a search
for a new director.
