From: Dan Nelson, Acting Dean of the College
To: President's Administrative Forum
I am writing to let you know about plans for coverage of a variety of
responsibilities in the Dean of the College Office during the time I'll be
serving as Acting Dean, following Jim Larimore's move to Swarthmore on July
1.
I have asked Mary Liscinsky to take over many of my current duties in the
coming months. As most of you know, Mary has done an outstanding job this past
year as Acting Dean for Upperclass Students while a search has been in progress
to fill that position, and she will be responsible for chairing that search
when it reopens. Mary's past experience at Dartmouth includes serving as
Assistant Dean of the College, Acting Associate Dean and Acting Dean of
Residential Life, and Residential Life Area Director. She also served as
Coordinator for Residence Life at Indiana University. Mary received her
bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University and her master's degree in
Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of Vermont.
In addition to her development, communications, and other administrative
duties for the division, Marcia Kelly has agreed to work with the directors of
Career Services and Undergraduate Judicial Affairs during the interim period.
Marcia is very familiar with judicial affairs, having previously served as
director for a number of years, and she is looking forward to the new
connection with Career Services.
I have also asked Kate Burke to serve as Acting Dean for Upperclass Students
for the coming academic year. Kate has many years of experience in the Dean of
the College Office and Upperclass Dean's Office, where her assignments included
working with the undergraduate disciplinary system, serving as a class dean,
and serving as Acting Senior Associate Dean/Dean for Upperclass Students during
the 1998-99 academic year. Since then, Kate has served as Director of Hopkins
Center Student Programs, Director of Community Relations and most recently as
Deputy Director for EOAA Programs in the Office of Institutional Diversity
& Equity. An adopted member of the Dartmouth Class of 1999, Kate received
her bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire and her JD degree
from the University of Maine.
Thanks very much to Mary, Marcia and Kate for taking on these interim
responsibilities, which will allow us to continue our services to students and
others without interruption and to advance the mission and goals of these
offices. Would you please share this information with others in your area?
