The Provost Search Committee met on June 5th and was joined by then President-Elect Philip J. Hanlon '77 and members of Isaacson Miller, Inc., the search firm selected by President Hanlon to work with the Committee in this process. John Isaacson, President and Managing Director, and John Muckle, Principal, will lead the team from the search firm. Isaacson, Miller led the recent presidential search that resulted in President Hanlon's appointment, and brings breadth and depth in leadership searches for not only the academic community but across the nonprofit sector.
In addition to meeting with the Committee, the Isaacson, Miller team and I have met with members of the administration, and other key stakeholders to learn their views about the challenges and opportunities for the new provost. This consultation will likely continue through early July. Members of the Search Committee are also working with Isaacson, Miller on a position profile that will be publicly available in the early summer. In the meantime, you are invited to contact John Muckle at Isaacson, Miller to share your candid and confidential thoughts about the leadership requirements for Dartmouth's new provost.
Now and throughout the process, we also welcome any suggestions you might have of possible candidates or informed sources who might lead us to strong candidates. I ask you to take a few moments to think through your own networks and consider whom you would recommend as an outstanding potential candidate for provost. Isaacson, Miller will directly handle all administrative and logistical details related to the search, and all nominations and applications should be directed to them.
This is a confidential process, so we regret that we will not be able to provide substantive updates during the recruitment phase of the search. We expect an official announcement by the end of 2013 or early 2014.
I strongly encourage you to be in touch with John Muckle to share your thoughts and nominations for this important search. He can be reached at email@example.com or at 617.262.6500.
Thank you for your attention to this important effort.
