Cheng graduated with a major in history modified with economics, concentrating on international relations, and a minor in art history. An avid world traveler, she has been interested in international relations since an early age and wished to create a major that would allow her to study it from a multidisciplinary perspective. Complementing her studies at Dartmouth, Cheng studied abroad in Barcelona and Rome and interned for U.S. Commercial Service at the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai. Outside of the classroom, Cheng was the editor-in-chief of the Dartmouth International (a relatively new student publication that allows students to voice their perspectives on international issues) and also participated in a number of volunteer programs such as Big Brother Big Sister, SEAD, and MoneySmart. Cheng was a coxswain of the men's lightweight crew team her freshman year and an undergraduate advisor her sophomore year–both very rewarding experiences. She enjoys learning new languages and trying new activities outside of her comfort zone, such as coxing and martial arts. Looking toward the future, she hopes to pursue a career in international relations that will allow her to continue to travel and use her languages.
