“Selection and Conservation for Digitization”
The Spring Meeting will take up a host of issues related to selection and conservation for digitization. Todd Bachmann, Harvard College Library, will discuss selection considerations that guide digitization decisions. Turning attention to conservation Deborah Howe of Dartmouth College will review collections conservation treatments being done to the U.S. Congressional Serial Set as part of a digitization project. Moving from collections conservation to single item treatment Deborah Wender will offer observations on materials sent to NEDCC for treatment and subsequent digitization.
After lunch participants are invited to stay for a brief presentation by David Joyall and Aimée Primeaux of NEDCC. David will highlight some pilot digitization projects NEDCC has done for its clients and Aimée will present work being done to develop a methodology for assessing the preservation needs of digital objects.
The event is free but space is limited. Advance registration is requested.
