Dear Dartmouth Community,
We continue to see a regular influx of young people seeking treatment Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI) but I’m cautiously pleased to see the number of students being diagnosed is starting to stabilize.
In Week Six, we have diagnosed 35 new cases of ILI. In the week prior we also had 35 students. We began monitoring number of students with ILI since the start of the term and so far we treated 324 students total.
We’ve held several H1N1 vaccine clinics at Student Health Services and have administered a total of 432 vaccines in the injectable and the nasal spray variety. We will schedule more clinics when we receive another shipment of the vaccine. Once the shipment arrives, we’ll take appointments online only.
Even though our ILI numbers appear to be leveling off, we're still encouraging all members of our community to continue practicing good hygiene, which has shown to be an effective way of minimizing your chances of contracting viral illnesses including the H1N1 virus.
Best,
Dr. Jack Turco
