On Thursday, Sept. 3 from 8am to 1pm, law enforcement officials and other first-responders from the Town of Hanover, the State of New Hampshire along with Dartmouth representatives, will be participating in a simulated emergency training exercise at the Thayer School of Engineering. We will also test the DartAlert notification system which includes notices sent to Dartmouth office phones, through Blitz as well as personal text and automated voice messages to those who registered to receive it on their cellphone or other devices.
To make this exercise as realistic as possible, members of the Dartmouth community should expect to see police cars, EMS vehicles, and police, fire, and other first-responders on campus. In addition, as part of the exercise, we will test our emergency communication systems and other outreach protocols.
These activities are all PART OF THE EXERCISE and NOT a real emergency. At no point should the Dartmouth community panic or become concerned if they see police cars, ambulances or uniformed professionals on campus or receive any type of messages about an emergency. All messages sent using the DartAlert system will be clearly identified as a "TEST."
We appreciate your understanding and patience on September 3rd. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of us or Latarsha Gatlin in the Office of Public Affairs at 646-3661.
Sincerely,
Mary Liscinsky and Peter Glenshaw
