Dartmouth Water Polo Head Coach

Randy Budner

The 2006-07 academic year is Randy Budner’s first as head coach, but he has assisted with coaching since 2002.

An All-American in high school and four-time All-Conference, All-East at the University of Richmond, Coach Budner has played water polo for the perennial national champion New York Athletic Club since 1992. He was team captain in 1997-98, won the Captain’s Cup and the Amano Award, and has played on numerous national championship teams, including the first Premier League Championship team.

In the mid- 1990s he was head water polo coach for all teams, from 12-and-under through open, representing Pine Rivers Community Aquatics in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. At the same time he was the water polo physical education instructer at All-Hallows Catholic Schools for Girls and at Clayfield College and captain of the Brisbane Redbacks water polo team that competed throughout Australia in the Australian National League.

Coach Budner earned his bachelor of science degree in finance from the University of Richmond and his master of business administration in marketing from Fordham University. He lives in the Upper Valley with his wife and three children.
