Dartmouth Water Polo

Dartmouth Water Polo returned to the pool for its 85th consecutive season. Led by captains Nick Tropin '12, Christopher Calby '12, Ali Titiz '14, and starters John Hill '12, Ben Reasons '13, Will Derdeyn '13, and Christian Sherrill '13, the Big Green had another successful if not disheartening season, ending one goal away from nationals and losing to rival Yale University in the finals of the New England Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association.

Dartmouth Water Polo maintained its competitive tradition, finishing within the top two spots of the conference each of the last six seasons. In the postseason, Coach Randy Budner and new Assistant Coach Forrest Pollard guided the team to 2nd place amongst club teams in the Ivy League.

Dartmouth Water Polo worked extremely hard for its short season, with preseason training camp during the Summer-Fall interim and off-campus practices at White River Junction's Upper Valley Aquatic Center (UVAC), which generously allows the team to use its 25-meter all-deep pool.

Because some of the teams players are also highly competitive swimmers on Dartmouth's varsity team, Dartmouth Water Polo will be limited to weekly practices for the winter term. The team will return to the pool for regular practices this spring and prepare for the upcoming 2012 season, one that will surely carry on the team's tradition of excellence.

Though water polo at Dartmouth is a club sport, the team trains rigorously and as hard as varsity programs. The team is open to all students of the College or any of its graduate programs.
