Air Travel

Lebanon (N.H.) Municipal Airport, 10 miles from the Dartmouth campus, is served by several daily flights from New York (LaGuardia), Boston (Logan) and Philadelphia International airports. Consult your travel agent for connection information.

General aviation services are also available at the Lebanon airport through Signal Aviation.

Train Travel

Amtrak's "Vermonter" service from Washington and New York arrives daily in nearby White River Junction, VT. Consult your nearest Amtrak agent for information.

Bus Travel

Vermont Transit (802-295-3011) has several buses from various points arriving daily in White River Junction, VT., with connections to the Dartmouth campus. Vermont Transit also has direct routes from Boston Logan Airport and Manchester, New Hampshire Airport to Hanover, New Hampshire. Call for information. Dartmouth Coach (603-448-2800) offers daily departures from Boston Logan Airport to the Dartmouth campus. We recommend calling for more information. Local bus transportation is available from Advance Transit . Please visit their web site to obtain their current schedules. Passengers can ride free on certain local bus routes.

Driving Directions:

From the Boston Area:

1. Exit Logan Airport on the Access Road. At the end of the Airport Access Road, turn left onto MA Route 1A (William F. McClellan Highway). MA Route 1A will travel through a tunnel under part of Boston Harbor. After coming out of the tunnel, follow signs to I-93 North.
2. Take I-93 N (toll road) to I-89 (~57 miles).
3. Take I-89 N to Exit 18 in Lebanon, NH (~60 miles).
4. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto NH Route 120.
5. 4.1 miles from the exit, Rt. 120 forks at a traffic light. Bear right at the fork, following Rt. 120 (South Park Street) to the 2nd traffic light.
6. Turn left at the light onto East Wheelock Street.
7. Traveling along East Wheelock Street toward the Dartmouth Green, take the first right after Alumni Gym (on left) onto Observatory Road.
8. Once on Observatory Road, go up the hill and through one intersection. The Observatory is on the right as you reach the top of the hill. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is located in Wilder Laboratory on the left.

From the Manchester, NH airport:

1. Exit the Manchester Airport on Airport Access Road.
2. Stay on this road for ~1.5 miles, following the signs for I-293.
3. Take a left turn and get on I-293 heading East towards I-93.
4. Follow signs on I-293 for I-93 North (~2 miles on I-293).
5. Take I-93 N (toll road) to I-89 (~8 miles).
6. Take I-89 N to Exit 18 in Lebanon, NH (~60 miles).
7. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto NH Route 120.

1. Exit Burlington Intl. Airport on Airport Drive. At the end of the Airport Drive Road, turn left onto US Route 2 (Williston Road). Travel 2.4 miles to the junction with VT Route 2A.
2. Turn right onto VT Route 2A (Essex Road). Travel 0.8 miles to I-89 South
3. Follow I-89 South to White River Junction VT. Pick up I-91 North and get off at Exit 13 for Norwich and Hanover.
4. Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp and cross the Connecticut River. Go up a hill to a come to a stop light. You are now on West Wheelock St. in Hanover.
5. Go straight through the light and take your second left onto Observatory Road.
