Prerequisites

Lab Activities

In this lab, the students use a 10 inch relector telescope and a 9.5 inch refractor telescope to observe:

  • M81 (galaxy)
  • M82 (galaxy)
  • M37 (star cluster)
  • Orion Nebula (HII region)

For each object observed, the students are required to fill out an observing log sheet, make a sketch of the object, and write a brief description.
