Lab Activities

The students observe and sketch Mars amd the star Spica using a small 2" Unitron refracting telescope. From their observations, they are asked to:

  1. Compare Spica and Mars in terms of color and angular size.

  2. Determine how far Mars is to the east of Spica.

  3. Determine an approximate value for the height of Mars above the horizon.
