Open to one student, this four-week, full-time elective places the student in pediatricians’ offices throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. Teaching is done by the preceptor method and consists mainly of experience in the private pediatric office (solo or group practice), the community hospital and in other community facilities such as schools, public children’s clinics and in conjunction with community health nursing and mental-health services. Contact or Dr. Fall or Holly Harrison in the Department of Pediatrics for sites and details.

When offered: Per arrangement with preceptors through the Student Education Office, Department of Pediatrics.

Credit units: 4

Method of student evaluation: Evaluation is done by the preceptors, who report to the department chairman using standardized course-evaluation forms.
