Serves 6 – 8
This french toast is prepared the night before, and is baked in its own brown sugar syrup. Serve it as-is, or with fresh berries on top.
| 1/2 c | butter |
| 1 c | brown sugar |
| 2 Tbs | dark corn syrup |
| 1 loaf | French bread, cut in thick slices |
| 5 | eggs |
| 1-1/2 c | milk |
| 2 tsp | vanilla |
| pinch | nutmeg |
- Cook butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup until sugar is dissolved. Pour into 13- by 9-inch pan. Layer bread on top.
- Mix eggs, milk, vanilla, nutmeg. Pour over bread. Cover & refrigerate overnight.
- Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
