International Undergraduate Orientation

Welcome to Dartmouth College!  Orientation for international undergraduates, including members of the Class of 2012, transfer students, and international exchange students, begins on Sunday, September 14, 2008, and ends on Monday, September 15, 2008. First Year Orientation for the entire Class of 2012 begins on Tuesday September 16.  Students who will attend DOC Trips may arrive on campus as early as Monday, September 8, 2008 or Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Students not intending to participate in a DOC Trip may not arrive until Saturday, September 13, 2008.

Orientation Schedule

Notes:

  • The orientation for new international undergraduates will begin their program at 5pm on Sunday, September 14th.
  • International Mentors arrive on September 6th.  International Student Mentor training day is September 7th.
  • International Logan Meet and Greet service September 8th and 9th.
  • International students participating in DOC trips will be invited to participate in DOC trips G & H.
  • Exchange Students:  International Student Programs will send exchange students the same orientation information as matriculating students and provide them with the arrival forms and mentor request forms.  Exchange students will notify  when they plan to arrive, and whether they will be involved in the orientation.  Office of Visa and Immigration Services picks them up and gets them settled well before they arrive at the Off-Campus Program office orientation which happens at the end of the afternoon on the day before classes start.

 Arrival Information

International undergraduate students planning to participate in a DOC Trip may arrive as early as Monday, September 8, 2008.  If arrival details have been previously provided by the student to International Student Programs via the Undergraduate Arrival Information Form, International Student Mentors will be on hand to:

  • meet students arriving at Logan Airport (Boston, Massachusetts) on Monday or Tuesday, September 8 or 9, 2008;
  • assist students arriving at Logan to locate the Dartmouth Coach bus service to Hanover, New Hampshire;
  • meet students arriving in Hanover at the Hanover Inn; and
  • assist students arriving in Hanover with their luggage and deliver them to their residence halls.

International Student Mentors

International Student Mentors provide friendship and assistance to new international students during the fall and winter term of the first academic year.  To be assigned a Mentor, students must fill out the request form. Visit the link provided to learn more about the program and how to sign up for the International Student Mentor Program.

International Friendship Program

International Student Programs sponsors the International Friendship Program which matches incoming students with host families in the Hanover area.  Friendship Families can be a valuable resource as students adjust to college life and American culture.  Visit the link above to learn more about the program and how to sign up for it by submitting the request from available on the link.
