Layout Theme Prototypes

Based on the final information architecture diagram of 3/2/03, we have created three layout themes for your consideration.

These samples are intended to represent the use of screen real-estate, i.e., the placement of navigational and content blocks in various locations on the page. They do not include any design elements except the Dartmouth typeface currently in use. That is why the samples are in black-and-white and use cross-hatching to represent the location of images.

We have included four layouts for each theme: a Dartmouth home page, a gateway page (for audiences and topics), a department home page, and a department inside page. Use the back button on your browser to return to the list of samples, below, or click on navigation areas to link to other layouts in that same theme. This will give you a sense of how the user will experience these interrelated pages.
