Grants.gov is the central web-based portal created by the government under the Egrants initiative. Grants.gov replaces paper applications with electronic forms and requires electronic submission of all applications.
Currently, Grants.gov offers two main functions:
Dartmouth College is a registered institution with Grants.gov and with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR). Faculty and staff do not need to register with Grants.gov or CCR to use the system. Faculty do not submit their applications, the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) has officials who are authorized to submit proposals on behalf of the Institution through Grants.gov.
Keep in mind, in order to guarantee timely submission of your application, OSP needs to receive your application 7 working days before the sponsor deadline. Please refer to OSP Deadline Policy for further guidance.
For guidance on using Grants.gov application packages, please email sponsored.projects@dartmouth.edu
Download and install the necessary software before you actually need it.
While Grants.gov provides a common portal to apply for federal assistance, agencies may have specific guidelines and forms adapted to their particular needs. Once you have identified your funding source, please consult the agency specific Grants.gov instructions in our Agency Listing (i.e., NIH, NSF, etc.). We have also included each implementation schedule when available.
