New URL for Grant Query and ePRF

We have two more informational notes for users of Grant Query and the ePRF:

1. Our recent upgrade to the URLs for the electronic Proposal Routing Form (ePRF) and Grant Query led to an annoying occurrence of trying to use certificates to gain access to these systems, which did not work. We have been given two improved URLs by Administrative Computing which solves this problem:

These are now the links you will find on the OSP web site, and you should once again update your own private bookmarks, favorites, and shortcuts with these new values.

2. We have learned that the new GQ & ePRF URLs do not work when you are using Internet Explorer on the Mac. This is not terribly surprising; IE has not been supported by Microsoft for a few years now.

The college list of supported hardware and software, which is at http://www.dartmouth.edu/comp/about/policies/software/supported.html, states, "Using Internet Explorer on Macintosh computers for accessing administrative systems is not supported."

The college software download page, at http://www.dartmouth.edu/comp/resources/downloads/mac/connect/index.html, offers a link to download Netscape 7.2 for the Mac. Safari and Netscape seem to have no problem with the new URL, and although Firefox has not been tested, it should perform fine as well.

We recommend that our Mac users avoid using IE when accessing administrative systems, including Grant Query and the electronic Proposal Routing Form; and that Mac users employ more current browsers such as Netscape or Safari when accessing these systems.
