NIH Multiple Principal Investigator Awards

NIH released a new opportunity, the Multiple Principal Investigator Awards, available as early as May/June 2006, for proposals submitted in response to SPECIFIC PA's and RFA's.

For complete information about the Multiple Principal Investigator Awards, please read the NIH Guide announcement at: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-06-036.html

Note that this initiative does NOT replace the traditional single-PI R01 program, but rather offers an additional option for research projects that clearly fit the multi-PI "team approach" format.

In brief, the first Multi-PI applications will be accepted in response to specific PA's or RFA's with a receipt date of May/June 2006. Such PA's or RFA's will be published in the NIH Guide.

The pilot phase of the program will likely be offered later on in October.

For questions, guidelines and updates about the program, visit the Multiple Principal Investigator website at: http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/multi_pi/
