The American Federation for Aging Research and the Ellison Medical Foundation offer several research funding opportunities. Many of these opportunities have an application deadline of December 15, 2005.

Examples of fellowship and career award opportunities:
- 2006 AFAR Research Grants: for junior faculty (PhDs or MDs), $60,000/yr for 1-2 years.
- 2006 Ellison Medical Foundation/AFAR Senior Postdoctoral Fellows Research Program: for PhDs or MDs, 2-year grants of $100,000.
- 2006 Julie Martin Mid-Career Award in Aging Research: $500,000 for 4 years, high-risk projects.
