JOB REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate Advisors must meet the following basic requirements:

  • Fulfill all aspects of the position as identified in the job description and employment contract, and as directed by the Community Director who is your supervisor.
  • Spend an average of 15-20 hours per week actively performing the duties and responsibilities of the UGA position. Due to the level of responsibility inherent in being a UGA, this position is considered to be your principal non-academic commitment. Extracurricular activities and jobs should be limited in order to fulfill the UGA responsibilities.
  • Your enrollment pattern must officially reflect an "R" for the term(s) for which you are applying. If you would like to apply for a position during a leave term, please contact the selection coordinator prior to submitting your application.
  • Attend the staff training program for each term that you are on staff. Candidates who may have conflicts with fall training, such as trip leaders and fall sport athletes, should speak to Margaret Leary, Senior Associate Director of Residential Education, prior to applying for a UGA position.
  • Abide by all federal, state, and local laws, and College and Residential Life Standards, and remain in good academic standing. Applicants who answer "yes" to the behavioral/academic questions in the application may be denied an interview, though in most cases, the circumstances of the violation will be discussed during the interview process and will not necessarily preclude employment. Factors such as the seriousness and nature of the violation, when and where it occurred, and subsequent behavior will be taken into account.
  • Arrive on the designated arrival date for the term(s) for which you are employed.
  • Be on campus and perform duties and responsibilities related to the following events: the opening and closing day(s) of each term for which you are hired; First-Year Orientation; the major campus weekends including Homecoming, Winter Carnival, First-Year Family Weekend, and Green Key Weekend.
