Some other factors that will affect a GA’s weekly schedule:
- GAs typically put in more work at the start of a term. First-year opening and orientation, for example, are excellent times for a GA to be visible and active in their residential community.
- Academic commitments will influence a GA’s schedule. One may need to put in more time (e.g. 8-10 hours per week) when not as busy to make up for those times when one cannot put much time into the GA position.
- GA training and all-staff training. All-staff training will likely take more than 8 hours per week for a two-week period.
- In the summer, GAs who are continuing to the next academic year will be expected to work some during the summer, though generally this is not 6-8 hours per week.
