Alexandra Crain Armstrong (Alexandra Crain) - Class of 1994

Through my art education at Dartmouth, I learned so much from the fantastic faculty and my love of making art and studying art history flourished. After college, I studied art history in England and then went on to pursue my Masters of Fine Arts at American University. I also taught drawing and painting at the Washington Studio School in Washington DC.

I now live in Florida and Tennessee and continue to paint. I have paintings at the David Lusk gallery in Memphis and have been in shows in Florida, Maryland, Washington DC, and New York.

The Class of 1960/Office of Residential Life Art Award was meaningful to me in that it felt great to be recognized through my art and even make a little money. However, my advice is that you only should do your art if you have a passion, as it certainly isn't about making money. My experience at Dartmouth really pushed me in my work and I still loook back to things I learned from my professors.
