Since graduating in 1997, I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and art; received a Masters in Education in Art and Art Education from Columbia University Teachers College; co-founded the Rehumanize Memorial Quilt (www.rehumanize.us); and designed and sold a line of jewelry (www.k-b-e.net/pixie).
I have exhibited my paintings and sculptures in NC, NY, CA, and MN, and now work out of a studio in Brooklyn. I am currently seeking funding to start a cretive video production program for children aged 5-8. The basis of Digital Story Workshop (www.digitalstoryworkshop.org) is to connect children from different parts of the world to each other through digital videos about their imaginative play.
Advice to graduating artists: work as interns for college credit whenever possible. Pursue career-oriented classes and practical goals as well as fine art goals. Use art to help stop human suffering, hate, and war.
