Fall Housing Scenarios

I'm a rising senior/junior and my first choice is a single, pretty much anywhere on campus.

  • You do not need to create a roommate group as your first choice is a single, you are flexible as to the location, and singles are generally available in the fall for all seniors and juniors who want them.
  • You need to register for Room Draw by Monday, April 28.  You will receive your time-slot the day prior to your selection day and at that time you log-in to BannerStudent and select your room!

I want to go for a 5 person-suite with four of my friends.  If we can't get one in Fahey/McLane then I would rather go for a single.  What do I do?

  • If you indicate that you would like a suite you will need to be sure that ALL the members of your roommate group register by April 28th at midnight.  The roommate with the best priority number should create a roommate group and add all members.  Only complete roommate groups will be eligible to participate!
  • On May 1st those groups that are eligible will be contacted by email by 9am.  Those groups will have until Noon to confirm their suite.  If your group is not able to get a suite, you can dissolve or remove yourself from the roommate group and go for a single in General Room Draw.

I am trying for a 5 person-suite, and if that doesn't work than one friend will go for a single and the four of us will try for an apartment.  What do I do?

  • If you indicate you would like a suite when you register you will need to be sure that ALL the members of your roommate group register by April 28th at midnight.  The roommate with the best priority number should create a roommate group and add all members.  Only complete roommate groups will be eligible to participate!
  • On May 1st those groups that are eligible will be contacted by email by 9am.  Those groups will have until Noon to confirm their suite.  Those whose priority numbers will not receive a suite will be emailed by 3pm. If your group is not able to get a suite than the person who is going for a single can remove themself from your group and the remaining four of you can go for an apartment on Monday, May 5th.

I am accepted to an LLC and will go through LLC Room Draw. How does that work?

  • When you register on BannerStudent be sure to answer "yes" to the LLC question. If you are part of a roommate group be sure all your members have registered and that the student with the best priority number creates the roommate group. You will get your time slot on Wednesday, April 30th for LLC Room Draw on Thursday, May 1st.
  • If you are part of a group and you are able to get the room type you want when your group leader's slot comes up, then you and your roommates will all be housed and you'll be set!
  • If you are part of a group and not able to get the type of room you want, you can dissolve the group and either regroup for another room type, or try for an individual space in the program. You will all have your own time slot so you can use it if necessary, or if you get housed through a roommate group, you simply don't use the slot you were originally assigned.
  • In the event you do not select a room at the LLC Room Draw you can then apply for the Fall Waitlist process by June 2nd.

My first choice is a double with my friend. My priority number is the better one so I want to pull in my friend.

  • You need to register for Room Draw by Monday, April 28th and create a roommate group.
  • Forward your friend (make sure he/she has time to register by the midnight deadline TBD) the "Roommate Group" confirmation page so he/she can register and join your group.
  • You will receive your time-slot (your roommate will receive a slot as well, but won't use it if she/he is pulled in by you).
  • When your time-slot begins, log into BannerStudent and select the double for you and your friend! Both of you will be housed for the fall!

My first choice is a single, but only if it's in one of two locations. If I can't get a single in New Hampshire or Hitchcock, then I want to live with my friend in a double. My priority number is better than my friend's.

  • Our advice is to have your preferred roommate with you when your time-slot occurs so he/she is fully aware of what you are choosing and how it impacts their housing.
  • OPTION 1: Register by Monday, April 28th  and create a roommate group.
    • Forward your friend (make sure he/she has time to register by the April 29th deadline) the "Roommate Group" confirmation page so he/she can register and join your group.
    • You will receive your time-slot (your roommate will receive a slot as well, but won't use it if she/he is pulled in by you).
    • If a single in Hitchcock or New Hampshire is available and you want to take it, go back and dissolve your roommate group, then go and select your single.
    • Your friend will then use his/her timeslot to select a room for the fall, or create/join a new roommate group with someone else and chose a room.
  • OPTION 2: Register by Monday, April 28th.  If the single is available when your time-slot opens, select the room.
    • If there is no single open you want to choose, create a roommate group.
    • You will want to have your friend's ID number to add him/her to your group immediately (remember, your friend must already be registered for Room Draw to be added as a roommate).
    • Once the roommate group is created, you can select a double for the two of you and you will both have fall housing!

I'm a rising sophomore and my first choice is a double with a friend of mine, and it's my friend who has the better priority number.

  • Make sure your friend registers by the April 28th deadline and creates a roommate group, and sends you the roommate group name and password.
  • You will then register and use the name and password to join your friend's roommate group.
  • Both you and your friend will be sent time-slots. Since you are being pulled in by your friend, you won't use your time-slot.
  • When your friend's time-slot opens up, he/she will choose the double for the two of you to live in next fall. You will both be housed through your friend's time-slot.

I am doing an internship and am not on-campus this spring. I'm a rising senior and want a single.

  • If you have access to BannerStudent, you can select your room from where ever you are!
  • You need to register for Room Draw by Monday, April 28th.  After April 28th you will get your time-slot and at that time you log-in to BannerStudent and select your room!
  • If you cannot access BannerStudent, you can contact the Housing Office and ask us to be your proxy by Monday, April 28th.
  • You can also ask a friend to be your proxy by sending your friend an e-mail with your ID number and the statement that you want him/her to choose for you. Your friend will then come to the Housing Office 15 minutes before your time slot and get set up to choose your room.

I'm off-campus this spring and want to live with two friends who are on-campus. My priority number is better than my friends'.

  • If you have access to BannerStudent, you can select your room from where ever you are!
  • Register for Room Draw by Monday, April 28th and create a roommate group.
  • Forward your friends (make sure they have time to register by Monday, April 28th) the "Roommate Group" confirmation page so they can each register and join your group.
  • You will receive your time-slot (your roommates' will each receive a slot as well, but won't use them if they are pulled in by you).
  • When your time-slot begins, log into BannerStudent and select the triple for you and your friends! All three of you will be housed for the fall!
