Affinity programs are residentially based, educationally purposeful living opportunities that center on a self-defined academic or special interest programmatic focus. Each program strives to provide a living-learning experience for residents that is unique in that resident students commit to a specified degree of involvement. Students apply to participate in these smaller, learning-based communities which can be housed in a section of a traditional residence hall or in a free-standing house.
Affinity programs are open to uppperclass students by application. Students who are interested living within an affinity program should:
Applicants for the Gender Neutral Program Floor should submit the Gender Netural Program Floor application found at www.dartmouth.edu/~orl/housing/forms/
The program’s housing coordinator determines program eligibility and makes all housing assignments in the living unit. The names of approved applicants are then submitted to the Office of Residential Life for verification of D-plan and housing eligibility once the assignments have been finalized.
Any student on an Affinity roster and with an approved affinity rider on file for the fall term will not be eligible to participate in Room Draw or any other fall housing process.
Please note that all Affinity programs are smoke free and the Chinese Language House, La Casa, LALACS, and the Native American House are substance free.
Any leave term student living in an affinity program must participate in a College dining plan at a level no lower than the "Mini Green."

The Office of Residential Life coordinates the housing assignments for the coed, fraternity, sorority and undergraduate society houses. Students can live in College-recognized Greek letter organizations' houses beginning in the winter term of their sophomore year.
Students who are interested in living in a social organization house must:
Students with a GLOS contract filed for fall term are not eligible to participate in Room Draw or any other fall housing process.
Any student living in a GLOS house must participate in a College dining plan at a level no lower than the "Mini Green."
Note: Sophomores are not eligible to live in Greek letter organization buildings until the winter term of their sophomore year.
Individuals who require housing for medical or disability-related needs may be exempt from Room Draw. To apply for this housing, a student must submit the Student Application, Medical Care Provider Form (filled out by a physician who is not a family member) and any appropriate documentation to the Undergraduate Housing Office by Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
