The Office of Residential Life is pleased to open its residence halls to
guests who will be attending the 2008 Reunions. This year we have an online
application for Reunion Housing. You may use the online application in
lieu of the paper application form mailed to you in March.
Please read the information below before linking to the online application
so you are clear about the application process. The link to the online
application is at the bottom of the page.
If you have questions, please call our office at 603-646-3288. You may also
e-mail questions to us at Commencement.and.Reunion@Dartmouth.edu.
Occupancy Dates
Rooms for guests from the Class of 1958 will be available for
occupancy after 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6th.
Checkout time for guests is by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June
8th.
On Friday, June 6th we will have Hall Clerks available in the residence
halls starting at 8:00 AM so you will be able to put your luggage into a
storage room while your residence hall room is being prepared if it is not
ready for your check-in.
Due to the large number of guests staying in the residence halls during the
Reunion period, we cannot guarantee specific housing or accommodate early
arrivals or late departures. If you do need to stay an extra day you must
make alternative housing arrangements. Information about off-campus
accommodations in and around Hanover can be found elsewhere on the Dartmouth
College website. You may also call the Hanover Chamber of Commerce at
603-643-3115.
Personal Requests
There is a section of the online application for individual requests.
Examples might include a request for a handicapped accessible room, a first
floor room, or a crib for a child in your party.
Accessibility
Several of the buildings available for Reunion housing have accessible first
floor rooms, and some have elevator access to all floors. Service
animals accompanying guests with disabilities are welcome in the residence
halls. Accessible accommodations can be requested in the Personal Requests
section of the online application.
Family Housing
Dartmouth College has a variety of room types available, many with multiple
bedroom units. When possible, these adjoining rooms will be used to
accommodate family members or friends who do not require a separate,
unconnected bedroom. Therefore it is important to fill out the online
application with names, ages and relationship(s) of members of your party so we
can determine the best housing accommodations.
Children Under 2
Children under the age of two are free if the guest provides a crib for
his/her own child. If you would like the College to provide a crib, the child
must be registered and a $40/person/night charge applies. Cribs can be
requested in the Personal Requests section of the online application.
Pets
Pets are not allowed in the residence halls.
Payment
The online application accepts payment using MasterCard, Visa, American
Express or electronic check. If you would like to pay by paper check, please
complete and return the paper application that was mailed to you in early
March.
When submitting credit card information, please check to make sure credit
card information for the entire amount owed accompanies the online application
submitted; we will not be able to process your application without full
payment. Please verify the expiration date and number on the credit card
for accuracy.
Information on Residence Hall Accommodations
Please remember that the residence hall accommodations, although convenient,
do not offer the amenities of a fully staffed hotel. The Commencement and
Reunion housing staff and residence hall custodial staff will work very hard to
make your rooms as comfortable as residence hall rooms can be, particularly
with the restrictions presented by the Dartmouth Plan and year-round
operations. We do our best to make sure the buildings are clean but, because
students will have just vacated the rooms, there will not be enough time to do
minor repairs and maintenance. In addition, because they are college
residence halls, our facilities are somewhat limited. We do not provide
daily maid service, all of our rooms contain single (twin) beds, and the
majority of our rooms do not have private baths. Most of our buildings are
small and have no more than four floors, and are equipped with television
rooms, kitchens, public telephones, floor bathrooms and coin-operated laundry
facilities. As part of our services, we do provide linens, a blanket, a
pillow, towels, a cup, and a bar of soap for each guest. We will also
have attendants on duty 24 hours a day to assist you with any questions or
unexpected needs that may arise.
Application Deadline/Late Registration
The application deadline is April 7, 2008. If you submit an online
application after the deadline, a $10 late fee will automatically be added to
your total.
Changes to Application
You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your online application once it
is submitted. If you need to make changes to the information you submitted,
please contact our office by telephone (603-646-3288) or e-mail (Commencement.and.Reunion@Dartmouth.edu).
Notification of Assignment
We will begin making housing assignments after the application deadline. We
will notify you of your housing assignment by early June.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made in writing. A refund will be made only if
your written cancellation is postmarked by May 19, 2008. No refund will
be offered if a reservation is canceled after this date. Cancellations will not
be accepted over the telephone. Refunds will be mailed at the end of June.
There is a $25 non-refundable fee for the cancellation of any reservation.
Reunion Schedule
For information on your reunion, including the reunion schedule, please
visit the following web site: http://alumni.dartmouth.edu/reunions/index.html
Proceed to Online Application
If you use the online application, please do not send in or fax us the paper
application that was mailed to you in early March because it will result in
your reservation being duplicated.
