2004 Northeast Greek Leadership Association Awards

Dartmouth College was recognized for outstanding achievement in many areas at the Northeast Greek Leadership Association Conference held February 26th - 29th in Philadelphia.  Those in attendance represented ninety schools from New England, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland.  Over 800 students attended the Conference.

The Dartmouth Lambda Rho Chapter of the National Order of Omega Greek Leadership and Scholarship Honorary Society won one of the top prestigious national awards given to an outstanding chapter.  Four chapters are chosen each year from a roster of 435 schools.  A $1000 check is given to the winners.  The Dartmouth Chapter, which consists of juniors and seniors, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 (out of 4.0).  This year, the Omegans have focused on supporting the Student United Way Campaign and have raised over $5000 in that effort.  Under the leadership of Reid Coggins '04 (who is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity), the Lambda Rho chapter invites faculty members to speak about a topic of their choice at their meetings.
Jason Ewart '04, who is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. fraternity, was chosen as one of the seven Greek Leaders of Distinction.  Jason has been the president and treasurer of his fraternity and founded the Black Men of Dartmouth Support Group.  He was the Dartmouth recipient of the National Order of Omega Patrick Halloren Scholarship and currently serves as the secretary/treasurer of the Lambda Rho Chapter.

The Panhellenic Council won three awards for excellence in Overall Council Management, Leadership and Educational Development, and Membership Recruitment.  Five schools were cited for winning Panhellenic Council Awards.  The Panhellenic Council at Dartmouth is led by Krista Sande-Kerback '05 (who is a member of Alpha Xi Delta) and is the governing body for the six sororities on campus:  Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Epsilon Kappa Theta,  Kappa Delta Epsilon, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Sigma Delta.
