Student Employment

The Outdoor Programs Office offers employment to Dartmouth College students in a wide variety of settings. All positions either involve work in the out-of-doors or with outdoor recreational services.

Physical Education Classes
Instructors and Assistant Instructors provide instruction in canoeing, kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, in-line skating, cross country skiing, and in other areas. Moosilauke Ravine Lodge
Spring, Summer, and Fall Crews cook meals and maintain the Lodge and its environs for student and alumnae/i guests. Hiring occurs in the winter (for spring and summer crews) and in the spring (for fall crews). For more information, please contact Julie Clemons at (603) 646-1607 or at Julie.Clemons@dartmouth.edu. Note that the two-week Lodge Crew for DOC First-Year Trips has its own application process from late February to early April, and is unpaid.
Dartmouth Outdoor Rentals

Dartmouth Cross Country Ski Center

Climbing Gym

Dartmouth Organic Farm

Connecticut River Waterfront

DOC Summer Crew
This program is a great opportunity to live in the woods, learn amazing skills, leave a lasting mark on the DOC, enjoy general tomfoolery, and get PAID to do it! New projects are undertaken every year, but typically include facility and trail construction and maintenance (building and improving cabins, cutting and clearing trails, and many other projects). Dartmouth Ski Team
The Dartmouth Ski Team Publicist compiles race results and news articles for submission to newspapers and wire services. Hiring occurs in the fall. For more information, contact Ruff Patterson at (603) 646-3979 or at Robert.R.Patterson@dartmouth.edu.
DOC First-Year Trips
Listed just for the sake of completeness, the DOC First-Year Trips Director is appointed by the DOC President in consultation with the Outdoor Programs staff. In addition to this paid position, there are also volunteer positions in the DOC First-Year Trips program, such as the Assistant Director, many trip leaders, and the Hanover, VOX, Lodge, Grant, and Climbing Crews and their Crew Chiefs. Trip Leader applications are available online from late February through early April, and crew applications are available from the Outdoor Programs Office during the same time period.
