Update, November 24, 2008
Provost Barry Scherr released the following statement:
At the November meeting, the Board of Trustees asked the administration to review the options for proceeding with the full renovation of the West Stands. The administration presented its recommendation to defer the project to the Committee on Facilities on Monday, November 24th, and the Committee, on behalf of the Board, accepted the recommendation.
The decision not to proceed is due to the current global fiscal situation which is impacting Dartmouth, as well as many institutions. The original plan was to complete a full renovation of the West Stands between November 2008 and August 2009. Instead, Dartmouth will address the immediate maintenance needs of the stands during the spring and summer of next year so that it will be ready for the fall season.
