Construction Update, July 19, 2006
Work continues at a good pace, targeting completion in time for fall move-in. While the residence hall is being completed, FO&M will begin the Tuck Mall realignment project. This will leave the areas in front of the residence hall on Tuck Mall looking a little unfinished until that work is completed later this fall.
Construction Update, June 19, 2006
Approximately 95% of the exterior finishes are complete or nearing completion, and the grading and landscaping work around the building is beginning. Interior finish work is well under way throughout the building.
Additionally, work on the steam line along Tuck Mall continues, and is also nearing completion.
Construction Update, June 5, 2006
Exterior masonry work is coming to a finish on the south face of the building, which is the last major piece of exterior work to complete. Inside, the finish work is progressing well alongside the commissioning work for the MEP systems. The hall is on schedule for a fall 2006 opening.
Also, work on the steam line along Tuck Drive is finishing up, with the exception of a small portion that crosses Tuck Mall in front of Massachusetts Row. That work will occur after commencement and the reunions have finished.
Construction Update, May 5, 2006
The Tuck Mall Residence Hall is progressing on schedule. The exterior is gradually being revealed as the staging comes down. One section of staging will remain in place on the south face in order to facilitate installation of the granite water-table and brick above. This work should be completed within three weeks.
On the interior, finishing work is proceeding well.
Construction Update, April 10, 2006
The exterior of the building is nearly finished, and will soon be revealed as the staging and tenting is gradually removed.
Interior work is proceeding according to schedule, with painting getting started, and the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades all well on track. Everything is on schedule for Fall 2006 occupancy.
UPCOMING WORK: This summer, there will be a renovation of the Tuck Mall sidewalk that will be done in coordination with the construction of a new sidewalk and curbing which serves the new residence hall. We shall provide further information on scheduling and possible disruptions as this work comes closer.
Construction Update, March 1, 2006
Exterior brick and interior drywall are both halfway complete at this point, and progressing smoothly. Mechanical systems are underway and are being prepared for commissioning. Overall, the project is roughly 60% complete, and on schedule for Fall 2006 occupancy.
Construction Update, December 2, 2005
The concrete blockwork, including chimneys, will finish up by the end of today, completing that portion of the masonry. Installation of roofing joists and trusses is underway, and should be approximately 1/3 complete at the end of today's work.
Plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems are roughly 50% in place on the ground floor and first floor, and slightly less on the second and third floors (fourth floor/attic work will occur later). The sprinkler system is nearly complete on the third floor, and work on that will progress down through the second, first, and ground floors.
