Project at a Glance
The Floren Varsity House will house a varsity strength training center, a
technology-equipped classroom, meeting rooms, locker facilities, equipment
facilities, and team offices. Details of the building program include:
- A large smart classroom for the general use of DCAD and intercollegiate
athletic teams
- The football team lockers and showers
- Satellite spaces for equipment and athletic training
- A 10,000 sf intercollegiate strength training facility,
- Office space for the strength training coaches
- A mezzanine level on the second floor to provide handicapped access to the
new stands.
- Offices, conference rooms, and a video room for the football coaches and
staff
- A football program lounge
- Three intercollegiate team offices, with men's and women's locker rooms and
restrooms
The East Stands will undergo renovation at the same time, featuring better
code compliance and increased accessibility, and new restroom facilities. The
new stands will seat 3,260 people.
The building will be constructed with a steel structure, and the brick
exterior connects the building to the architectural context of Alumni Gym and
the campus. The upper floors offer commanding views of the football field to
the west and of Red Rolfe Field to the east.
