Kemeny/Haldeman Landscaping

Kemeny/Haldeman Landscaping Site Plan

Project at a Glance

Type Of Project:

Landscaping

Total Area:

1.6 acres

Start of Construction:

Spring 2007

Completion:

Spring 2008

Landscape Architect:

Richard Burck Associates, Inc.

The landscaping of the area to the east and north of Kemeny Hall and Haldeman Center will sculpt the space formerly occupied by Bradley/Gerry into a graceful bowl and pathway through campus. Outdoor areas will be associated with both Berry's Novak Café and Kemeny/Haldeman reception space, and also provide space for both outdoor class meetings and incidental social activity. The plan reinforces existing and derived circulation pathways, and serves as both a vital pedestrian link and important visual connection to the North campus.

Features of the project will include:

  • A formal terrace along the east face of the Kemeny-Haldeman building
  • A grass amphitheatre framed by stone seat walls
  • The Kemeny, Berry and Plaza walks
  • A generous, paved lower plaza at the base of the Haldeman building
  • Plantings that frame and reinforce the outdoor spaces
  • Site lighting and storm water management infrastructure.
