The landscaping of the area to the east and north of Kemeny Hall and
Haldeman Center will sculpt the space formerly occupied by Bradley/Gerry into a
graceful bowl and pathway through campus. Outdoor areas will be associated with
both Berry's Novak Café and Kemeny/Haldeman reception space, and also provide
space for both outdoor class meetings and incidental social activity. The plan
reinforces existing and derived circulation pathways, and serves as both a
vital pedestrian link and important visual connection to the North campus.
Features of the project will include:
- A formal terrace along the east face of the Kemeny-Haldeman building
- A grass amphitheatre framed by stone seat walls
- The Kemeny, Berry and Plaza walks
- A generous, paved lower plaza at the base of the Haldeman building
- Plantings that frame and reinforce the outdoor spaces
- Site lighting and storm water management infrastructure.
