Mobility Checklist wins NH Project of the Year

The UVTMA’s recently published Mobility Checklist was awarded the planning project of the year by the New Hampshire Planners Association.  The checklist is a tool for planners, developers and communities to create more efficient and livable neighborhoods.  It can be used as a guide to make walking, cycling and public transit more convenient and viable. 

A visit to Lebanon Planning Board

OPDC presented Dartmouth’s parking and transportation plans to a jam-packed Lebanon City Hall.   The crowds were attibuted to Lebanon High School’s awards night and a very full Planning Board of agenda.  We did use 30 minutes of the Board’s time to present our parking and transportation demand programs.   

Hanover PB hears DC’s parking & transportation plan

Late last night we presented an overview of Dartmouth’s parking and transportation plan to the Hanover Planning Board.  We shared the general goals of the plan:

  • To support the mission of the college;
  • To create a more pedestrian-friendly campus;
  • To reduce traffic congestion; and
  • To promote “green” transportation.

ØGeneral information about parking was discussed (lot locations, #s of spaces, vacancy rates) and then a more comprehensive presentation of Dartmouth’s parking and transportation demand programs.   

Bike to Work Day

It was a glorious day for biking and many area employees took advantage of the weather.  I had the priviledge of eating breakfast at the Hanover Recreation Center with one colleague and the Norwich Recreation Director.  We all commented on the wonderful way to start the day, the great spring smells and the good breakfast.  Seems like we should all be trying to “break-out” of our everyday routine to bike a day a week or more if possible.  Certainly reduces the stress of dealing with traffic and finding a parking place!!

March UVTMA Meeting - 3/20

New at the Upper Valley Transportation Management Association meeting was the “NY Minute.” Everyone attending went around the room and shared (for a minute or less) what’s up in their work with transportation.
