Health Professions Program Office and Resource Center Winter Term Advising Weekly Walk-In, No Appointment Needed, NATHAN SMITH SOCIETYThe Nathan Smith Society is a Dartmouth student organization that serves all students interested in the health professions. Currently, >1100 Dartmouth undergraduates are on our mailing list, making it one of the largest student organizations at Dartmouth. NSS serves as the central organizing locus for all extracurricular activities related to health and for advice concerning the Dartmouth curriculum.HEALTH PROFESSIONS PROGRAM (HPP)The Health Professions Program at Dartmouth assists current students and alumni/ae with a multi-faceted exploration of a possible career in the range of health professions, including, but not limited to, careers as physicians, dentists or veterinarians. We combine one-on-one advising, group programming, and extra-curricular opportunities to support students in choosing their curricular and other experiences, in the use of resources to assist them, and in their ability to be reflective of self and of the global community. We also assist them in the application process and serve as a central resource to coordinate the activities of other faculty and administrators who also work with these students. As Dartmouth’s only longitudinal advising/support program that guides students from their first day here into their alumni/ae years, our overarching goal is to place each student/alum in a position to make a thoughtful decision about this career direction and to assist them in developing the background and credentials that will allow them to proceed forward, if they select this goal. |
