Dartmouth College Office of Public Affairs • Press Release
Dartmouth President-Elect Dr. Jim Yong Kim has appointed Steven Kadish as Senior Vice President and Strategic Advisor, effective June 15, Provost Barry Scherr announced today. Scherr leads Dr. Kim’s transition team.
Kadish, who currently works with Dr. Kim at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, will serve as his deputy on a wide range of strategic and programmatic matters. “I've worked with Steve intensively for more than three years, and greatly value his wisdom, warm personality, and truly outstanding organizational skills,” said Kim. “We are both looking forward to joining the Dartmouth community full-time this summer.”
Kadish currently serves as the Director of Global Health Equity at BWH. He performs the role of chief operating officer, coordinating efforts among three entities: BWH, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health. As head of Global Health Equity, he has been responsible for strategic planning and implementation, new programs, budget and accounting, development, human resources, faculty appointments and promotions and facilities.
“I am thrilled to be coming to Dartmouth, truly one of the great institutions of higher education in the U.S.,” Kadish said. “I am humbled by how much I have to learn and the quality of everyone with whom I have met. I look forward to helping Dr. Kim, and the leaders, faculty, staff, and students achieve their next steps in the vision of what makes Dartmouth great.”
In this new position at Dartmouth, Kadish will play a key role on President-elect Kim's special initiatives and will work with the leadership across Dartmouth on a range of financial and programmatic issues.
Before joining BWH, Kadish served as Undersecretary for Health & Human Services of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (from January 2003-December 2006), and as Senior Vice President for Administration at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (from July 1999-January 2003).
Kadish earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University (1978) and a Master of City Planning degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1982). He is involved in numerous community and professional activities. He serves as a trustee for the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program and on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health.
