Water Quality Notice

Posted 06/16/05

To the Dartmouth Community and our Guests,

As you may know, the Hanover area has experienced an unusual amount of heavy rain in the last few weeks. This has caused unsettled conditions in the Hanover water reservoirs. You may have noticed cloudy or turbid water coming from the tap.

The Hanover Water Works Company, in cooperation with the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, continuously monitors the quality of the water. Despite its cloudy appearance, the water is potable. If you find the current water condition unpleasant, please consider bottled water as an alternative.

We continue to be in close contact with the Hanover Water Works Company, the State of New Hampshire and the Hanover Health Officer. We will keep you informed about any further developments.

Michael Blayney
Director, Environmental Health & Safety
Dartmouth College
