Nordberg will oversee the Dartmouth Human Resources Office, which provides services in the areas of  benefits, compensation, employee relations, recruitment and training/career development for the college's more than 4,200 employees.

Keller said, "Traci Nordberg brings to Dartmouth a contemporary, action-oriented vision of HR services and a wealth of hands-on experience in creating and implementing programs to recruit, train, motivate and retain excellent employees. I am delighted to welcome her to Dartmouth and look forward to working with her in support of the entire college community."

Nordberg's appointment follows a nationwide search. She succeeds Acting Associate Vice President for Human Resources Barbara Johnson, who served as interim head of human resources following the death of Associate Vice President for Human Resources Christine Chevalier in July 2004.

Nordberg is a graduate of  Suffolk University School of Law in Boston and received a bachelor's degree from Ball State University in Indiana.

She worked the last nine years at Massachusetts General Hospital/Partners Health Care system, Inc., a $1-billion academic medical center. At MGH, she oversaw services to 18,000 employees and managed a team of over 40 HR professionals.  Partners Healthcare honored Nordberg with its Partners in Excellence Award four times. She previously worked in human resources at Vencor (formerly Hillhaven Corporation) in Lowell, Mass.; Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in Carmel, Ind.; and Methodist Hospital of Indiana, Inc./Practice Management, Inc. in Indianapolis.

Nordberg brings with her to Hanover her husband Peter and their two daughters.
