DarCorps gives new students volunteer opportunity

Posted 09/19/02

Many members of the Class of 2006 are beginning their Dartmouth careers by spending time in the local community. On Tuesday, September 17th, the Tucker Foundation at Dartmouth College will sponsor DarCorps (Dartmouth Community Outreach Projects). Open to all, students will be receiving CPR certification or participating in one of twenty off-campus volunteer opportunities at local nonprofit organizations.

Volunteer possibilities include:

  • gardening and fixing up a playground at a local elementary school.
  • landscaping and preparing new bus stops for the Advance Transit system.
  • doing trail work with the Hanover Conservation Council.
  • painting at the Clara Martin Center, a nonprofit organization in Bradford, Vermont, that provides behavioral health services.
  • walking and playing with the shelter animals at the Springfield Humane Society.
