Statement from New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen

Posted 09/11/01

Gov. Jeanne Shaheen released the following statement on today's terrorist attacks. Gov. Shaheen will hold a media conference call at 2 p.m. today. Please call 1-800.261.3225, Code: 606-351.

"I have spoken this morning with officials from the Department of Safety, the National Guard, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Administrative Services, the Office of Emergency Management and the Attorney General. We have no reason to believe that there is any threat to the State of New Hampshire at this time. State offices will remain open, and we do not believe there is any reason for people not to continue with their normal business. We will continue to monitor this situation carefully.

"Our emergency officials are also preparing to respond to any requests from other states for assistance.

"I, along with all Americans, am shocked and horrified by today's tragedies. The victims and their families are in my thoughts and prayers. I am confident that the government of the United States will find the people responsible for these cowardly attacks, and bring them to justice.

"I urge all citizens of our state to join me in keeping the victims of these tragedies in their hearts and minds today."
