From 1995-98 Professor Hansen served as Associate Dean of Tuck, with primary responsibility for the MBA program.

He teaches the core MBA course Managerial Economics and has overseen many of the Tuck Forum first-year projects. Over the years he has also taught courses on securities markets and investment banking, investments, public policy, environmental economics, and most recently, managerial applications of game theory.

His research interests are in the general areas of industrial organization, law and economics, and the economics of auctions and bidding. He has published articles in The American Economic Review, Rand Journal of Economics, Journal of Business, Northwestern Law Review, International Review of Law and Economics, and The Journal of Industrial Economics, among others. His latest publication is entitled “Auctions of Companies,” in Economic Inquiry, and his current work-in-progress is in the area of industrial organization for project-oriented industries where syndication plays an important role, as in the investment banking, legal services, and construction industries.

Dean Hansen received a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Mathematics from Northern Michigan University. He earned his PhD at UCLA's Department of Economics. From 1988-1990, he was on leave from the Tuck School while he worked as a management consultant with The LEK Partnership, a London-based firm specializing in strategy and acquisition consulting.
