Glinerts research concerns discourse and society, especially the language of politics and international relations (e.g. presidential apologies, election rhetoric, Sino-American relations, the Arab-Israeli conflict), as well as risk and safety communication, such as consumer product and prescription labeling, workplace hazard warnings, and direct to consumer drug advertising and promotion. Glinert also studies Israeli and Jewish history and culture, specifically Jewish life and religion, the Orthodox Jewish world and the history of Zionism and the Israeli-Arab conflict. In his former post at the School of Oriental & African Studies, London, he was frequently interviewed for the BBC World Service on the Israel-Arab conflict, including an all-night commentary on unfolding events following the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.
