Driver's research focuses on normative ethical theory with an emphasis on consequentialism and virtue ethics. Her current research project is a book length treatment of consequentialism, or the view that the rightness of actions is determined by their consequences. She is particularly interested in how the theory impacts policy decisions and some of the problems that arise in using consequentialism as a policy tool. She is also interested in the impact empirical research, in psychology for example, has on normative ethics.
