Colin C. Blaydon, William and Josephine Buchanan Professor of Management and Director, Center for Private Equity and Entrepreneurship, has been at Tuck since 1983. He served as Dean of the Tuck school from 1983-1990, and again in 1994-1995. Prior to his career at Tuck, Professor Blaydon was Vice-Provost and Professor at Duke University, and Professor at Harvard University. His nonacademic positions include Staff Assistant to Assistant Secretary of Defense; Deputy Associate Director, U.S. Office of Management and Budget; and Executive Chairman, ITP Systems.
An expert in venture capital and private equity, entrepreneurship, energy industries, and financial economics, Professor Blaydon's current research topics include: private equity best practices; securities and deal structure; private equity valuation and financial reporting; private equity firm governance; risk management; and best practices in board participation in portfolio companies.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and his masters and doctorate degrees from Harvard University.
