Building Evacuation
Remember
- Walk, don't run, to nearest exit.
- Leave the building immediately during an alarm.
- Do not investigate the source of a fire or hazardous material emergency.
- Use stairs, not elevators.
- Assist people with special needs.
- Designate a meeting location outside, away from entrances.
- Wait for instructions from your supervisor before returning to your building after an evacuation.
- Call 911 if you are unable to evacuate.
Each department should have a building evacuation plan that is available at all times. If you do not have such a plan, Safety and Security can help you create one. Call (603) 646-4000.
