Cory Cornelius ('07, PhD Student) is an Occom Scholars Program Advisor. Cory is of Lakota, Kootenai and Oneida (Wisconsin) descent and was raised in Los Angeles where he was an active member of the Los Angeles Indian community. As a Dartmouth Native undergraduate alum and current Ph.D. student in computer science, Cory brings a strong sense of tradition, participation and new frontiers of knowledge to the Occom Scholars Program.
Kellyn James ('10) is an Occom Scholars Intern. She is of the Lakota and Dakota Sioux Tribes, and from Rapid City and Flandreau, South Dakota. She is a Sociology and Native American Studies double major and her interests focus on social issues that society deals with resolving. She is a member of NAD, the Inter-Community Council representative for NAD, a member of SEAD, the COS Review Board, Occom Pond Singers, Native Women's Group, CNAD and has served on the Pow Wow Committee.
Justin Curtis ('10) is an Occom Scholars Mentor. He is Choctaw and lives on Long Island, New York. He is an Economics modified with English major, and also will minor or double major with Native American Studies. He has served as an elected Summer Vice President for Chi Heorot Fraternity and is a member of the Men's Cross-Country and Track and Field teams.
LaKota Scott ('11) is an Occom Scholars Mentor. She is Diné from Tuba City, Arizona. LaKota has a strong interest in Anthropology and will major in Native American Studies. She is involved with NAD, is an organizer for the Native Women's Group, Women's Rugby and Occom Pond Singers.
Benjamin Quanah Parker ('11) is an Occom Scholars Mentor. He is enrolled at Squaxin Island and is also Turtle Mountain Ojibwe and Cree. His home communities are Squaxin Island (WA), Turtle Mountain (ND) and Seattle. He is currently undecided on his major, but is interested in Computer Science, Math, Environmental Studies and Engineering. He also enjoys skateboarding, being in a band, learning his Native language (Lushootseed) and has participated in the Intertribal Canoe Journey.
Laura Irons ('12) is an Occom Scholars Mentor. She is Chukchansi and lives in Seattle, WA. She is a government major and studio art minor. She also serves on the fundraising team of the student run art gallery, AREA, is a member of NAD, MEDLIFE, Panarchy, and Kappa Delta Sorority.
