Cancer Nanotechnology
The Norris Cotton Cancer Center,
in conjunction with Dartmouth College
and Thayer School of Engineering,
has a community of
scientists, clinicians, and engineers, focused on the enormous potential
of nanotechnology for improving cancer diagnostics and therapy. The group
pulls together these diverse communities for educational and research purposes. Professors
Ursula Gibson
and P. Jack Hoopes are co-directing this effort.
A key element of the group's activities is cross-disciplinary
research projects .
The group has extensive training programs with multiple elements
aimed at improving cross-disciplinary communication, informing each segment
of the community on the activities of the others, and sparking interest in the broader
research community in the area of Cancer Nanotechnology research. This training
program brings in internationally recognized speakers, promotes local researchers
active in the field, and maintains an
online calendar of events sponsored by, and
relevant to, the group.
In addition, the group maintains a
database of local expertise.
The formation of new research partnerships is fostered both by the
availability of this information, and targeted research discussion groups assembled by
the group's co-directors. This website contains relevant
funding opportunities,
upcoming seminars, and
descriptions of the research expertise of participants,
which will serve
as a central information exchange for physical scientists and cancer biologists looking for
collaborators.
