Mathematical Social Science is an undergraduate honors major combining mathematical training with one or more of the social sciences or life sciences. Coming from the social sciences, MSS is for students interested in Anthropology, Economics, Education, Geography, History, Political Science, or Sociology as a quantitative social science Coming from mathematics, MSS is for students interested in statistics, data analysis, mathematics or computer sciences directed toward application in social science |
Requirements |
Honors standing at the time of admission to the major. Four or more non-introductory courses in Mathematics or Computer Sciences, usually including Math 36. Four or more non-introductory courses in one social science area. The four course must form a coherent whole and need not fall within one social science department. Two additonal courses, usually including one course offered by MSS Completion of a senior thesis |
