John Bryant visit: 11-15 January 2007

Talks
Thur 11 Jan, 1:10-2:10.  Gilman 101.  Informal lunchtime seminar: "Why rare plants become rarer?"  There will be pizza.  Link to related paper (special treat for Lotka-Volterra aficionados.)   See below for links to more papers.

Fri 12 Jan, 4:00-5:00.  Gilman 101.  "The Fire-Hare-Birch Selection Mosaic".  Related image.

Field Trip to Second College Grant    Related image.
Depart Saturday morning from Gilman Hall.  Return about. sunset on Sunday.  Transportation, food, and most other needs will be supplied.  We have two very nice big cabins reserved that have good heat, propane stove and lamps, lots of bunks, etc.  Everyone is invited.  Contact Matt Ayres ahead of time if you might want to participate.  If we have enough snow, entry to the cabins could include an optional 8 km ski, but there also be some kind of vehicular options if skiing is not your bag.

Meetings, meals, socializing
John is looking forward to hearing from us about our science.  He will be available for meetings with individuals, lab groups, etc., on Thursday, Friday, and perhaps even Monday.  There will be numerous meal options too; eveing meals on Thur and Fri will probably lead to open beers someplace downtown.  Contact Matt to get on the schedule and suggest activities.
